Meeting at the University Women’s Club
4th November 2006.

The Early Knitting History Group, having terminated its temporary association with Medats, has reassembled and expanded into the Knitting History Forum, an international multi-period research group open to all with a genuine interest in knitting; as before it is "loosely organised but highly motivated".

Dr. Negley Harte chaired a well-attended meeting held on Saturday, 4th November, 2006, at the University Women’s Club in Mayfair (by courtesy of Dr. Kay Lacey) at which the name, structure and management were agreed. Dr. Karen Finch was unanimously elected Honorary President and Kirstie Buckland will co-ordinate for another year.

With the agreement of Mr. Tom Stanley, The Forum presented a cheque for £1,000 (one thousand pounds) to the University of Southampton towards the maintenance of the collections of those distinguished former members, Montse Stanley, Janet Arnold and Richard Rutt, which are held by the University Librarian.

The next meeting will be in Manchester on 3rd March, 2007, combined with the Antique Textile Fair.   Details are available from the Co-ordinator.

A Yahoo group is now open for discussion through Debbie Bamford.

Kirstie Buckland, Co-ordinator.
